Thumbs up! Rating widget added at TwitrLit, ScatterLit, and KidderLit

For a long time now I've wished that I could add thumbs up/thumbs down ratings to my posts at TwitrLit, KidderLit, and ScatterLit. But I could never find one that did exactly what I wanted and looked nice. Yes, you can add the Facebook like buttons, but not everyone wants to send things to their Facebook walls all the time. (There are, however, Facebook like buttons in the sidebars at all three sites in case you are so inspired.) What I wanted was a system that would allow visitors to quickly and easily express their opinion about the first lines posted without the information going off-site. It seems simple enough, but I had trouble finding a means of doing it. Until now.

I've now installed thumbs from Vova Feldman's rating-widget.com on all three sites. The widget he developed is great: customizable, fast, attractive, hosted externally. (If you're looking to install it yourself, you'll see that you can add a star rating system as well, with various options for their appearance.) And Vova was very helpful when I ran into trouble with the installation. (The installation is not difficult, so don't be scared off; it just turns out that I was putting a leading 0 somewhere where I shouldn't have been.)

Please go over to one or more of the sites and play around with the thumbs when you can. You'll find them on all the various pages (category archives, monthly archives, etc.) except for the Random 1st Line-inator, where for technical reasons I unfortunately can't add them.

Comments

I've pulled the ratings widgets off the sites because, fun as they were, no one seemed to be using them. So I figured the clutter wasn't worth it. It's a good-looking widget, though.
