What? "It's enough to turn someone off books"?! Every time I read it, I laugh so hard I can't see the page. Do you not like Brit humour? I'll admit the second half is a bit dismal, but the Wart's childhood is hysterical, magical and wonderful.

I can see places where it's *supposed* to be funny--specifically, those kings dressing up as the Questing Beast. But no, it's horribly dull in my book.
